The instrument box

Pausing or instrumentalizing?

After the rampage in Magdeburg on Friday evening, December 20, 2024, in which five people died and over 230 others were injured, some of them seriously, many discussions have been reduced to this poisoned question. Everyone calls for pause. Hardly anyone does. Everyone warns against the political instrumentalization of the crime. Too many people did and do it anyway, only to blame their own behavior on their political opponents. What a tragedy of human behavior! I have resolved not to take part in this game and hope to live up to it.

The judgment of guilt is adapted to one's own world view. Your own cemented world view and therefore your own ego want to be confirmed.

Perhaps we should leave it at this philosophical insight. Such a conclusion dispenses with right-left political thinking. At least at the end of the year, I think this perspective is healthy so as not to become senselessly angry during the festive season. I feel like soft tones, poetry and music. Do you play an instrument? Do you make music yourself? This form of instrumentalization has not yet been poisoned.

Whether it was a violin case, guitar case or recorder case - I remember times when instrument cases were used, especially at Christmas. The usually precious container was opened with great ceremony, the instrument was taken out and then the family made music. Musically, I am illiterate. I don't play an instrument, can't read music and envy people who have this ability. What I lack in musical sensitivity, I make up for in linguistic sensitivity. The metaphor of the instrument box fascinates me. This linguistic image conceals both beautiful and terrible things. You just have to open the box and take a closer look. Let's start with something beautiful.

In psychotherapy, for example, the instrument box and toolbox symbolize one's own strengths, which the mentally ill person should remember in order to regain their old strength. Sufferers are advised to open their own toolbox in order to remember buried competencies, abilities and skills and finally apply these strengths in everyday life again. A truly beautiful picture.

This language is recommended by psychologists, therapists and doctors. They also have a toolbox, also known as a doctor's case. Such a case really exists, is  so in this case it is more than just a metaphor. What are the contents of such a doctor's case? Well, yes. Devices to measure blood pressure and pulse, bandages, common medicines, perhaps a scalpel and other instruments to administer first aid. My trust in the gods in white has suffered somewhat due to corona. Nevertheless, it reassures me when a GP visits me with a suitcase. Then I hope he reaches for the right instrument when he opens it. And thus the smooth transition to the political toolbox.

The instrument box against Corona is not enough! This was stated by the CDU in a press release in December 2021. The instrument box must be full to the brim. Winfried Kretschmann, the Minister President of Baden-Württemberg, demanded this at the end of January 2023. These are just two of many examples during the coronavirus period in which politicians wanted a well-stocked toolbox. If you open this pretty-sounding box of words and take a closer look, the contents are not quite so pretty.

The political toolbox is a blank check for fundamental rights restrictions that politicians issue themselves. A fully comprehensive state toolbox means nothing other than the demand for a constitutional state without red lines. With this metaphor used by Scholz rightly made many people prick up their ears. The inflationary use of the word "instrument box" should also have made people prick up their ears. We should generally be vigilant when the state wants to expand its sphere of competence to the limit. Nancy Faeser is doing just that after the recent events in Magdeburg. At least she is trying.

The Minister of the Interior now wants to turn over every official stone. Sounds good at first. Structures are to be reconsidered, powers extended. The already planned data retention is to be pushed through, social media such as X, formerly Twitter, are to be more closely monitored and more strongly encouraged to carry out checks. In short? Faeser warns against Faeser. On the one hand, she warns against instrumentalizing the crime; on the other, she proposes expanding the content of the state's toolbox as a result of the crime.

This is more than the questionable reversal of the burden of proof called for by Faeser. These Faeser fantasies consist of a questionable reversal of logic. The assassin Taleb A. was known to the law and repeatedly announced a major crime. I consider the weapons depicted in his publicly accessible profile to be more suspicious than the image of a shampoo portrait used to satirize Habeck. The state took action there, but not here. When politicians are criticized, the state has taken and continues to take action hundreds of times, on its own initiative. State institutions did not take action when there were clear indications of a psychopath. So what else would have had to happen in the Taleb A. case for judicial authorities to take action? Would the driver of the rampage have had to send a registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt to Faeser, in which he announced the crime in detail two weeks before it was committed? In other words: If a rock is rolled in front of the authorities' doors several times, all you have to do is open your eyes and want to see this rock. Then there is no need to turn over any more stones. Nothing that Nancy Faeser is currently proposing in terms of instrument expansion would have prevented the Magdeburg rampage. The "open your eyes and set priorities" instrument was ready to hand in the instrument box. It was ignored.

Pause and set priorities! Hands off the political toolbox! It's filled with enough catalogs of measures and Orwellian laws. The emptier such a box is, the better. Democratic music is played with a few soft notes.

  1. What do we know at all? About the perpetrator, the crime, the background, ...?

Everything we get excited about we have learned from the oh-so-great media, which are so closely tied to the truth. And even what really happened: was there perhaps a bit of scripting? We know: Nothing!

No one was there themselves. We are talking about unlaid eggs.

  2. Faeser and the green-left don't want to prevent attacks with their activism. I only concede that much naivety to the 'completely immunized'. They want to turn the critics of willful self-denial into dust. They are trying to deprive those who fall from the mercy of political-media madness of the air they breathe. Red-Green hates to differentiate according to the facts. Only the enemy image counts for the henchmen of socialism. Take a close look at the justification for Bismarck's socialist laws. It reflects the ghost ride of the 'free socialist party' (SPD) in the present day. The assassinations, the decline of culture, the mass rapes and knife deaths, every kebab store, the destruction of history and classical education, gender nonsense and gender mania, etc., all this is according to plan. Since Merkel, all of this has served to destabilize and create chaos. Faeser's goal is the goal of Antifa. The country must become ungovernable! Only then can you establish a dictatorship in which you can kill politically and get applause for it.

  3. It seems that many authorities and people were able to recognize what kind of person the driver of the rampage was: Was he even a doctor? Who checked his papers and issued his license? Why did it take so long for him to be released from the hospital? Even though there were some doubts about his abilities. Who did not act? And what conclusions were drawn from this? Who carried out the risk assessment and failed to recognize the potential danger that was obviously lurking there? The entries on his website speak volumes! Including the weapon as an emblem. Who did not take into account the legal disputes he had with Islamic associations in order to arrive at an overall picture? Who misinterpreted his openly aggressive rhetoric? Etc, etc. All of this reminds me of the failure of the authorities in the case of the mentally disturbed killer who killed the Yehovah's Witnesses in Hamburg and the mentally disturbed Germanwings captain who had tens of lives on his conscience because he deliberately steered the plane into the mountain. - The pattern is always the same: sloppy work and looking the other way. Both diseases of our time. And when it happens: Covering up and playing down. No one is to blame, because everyone is somehow to blame. - What does the domestic secret service actually do for a living? In other words: For cases like the Magdeburg perpetrator, there MUST be a coordinating body, namely the Office for the Protection of the Constitution.
