Birds migrate on the horizon
Antje van der Maas
Birds migrate on the horizon
Gathering for the great journey
Screeching, screaming, they shout
Soon, oh soon it will be quiet
Birds migrate on the horizon
Striving for the winds of summer
Leave me shivering
Must light the embers alone
Birds migrate on the horizon
Flying the same eternal paths
If I knew everything as well as she does
I can only guess the way
Birds migrate on the horizon
Moving further into the distance
And the joy moves with them
Oh how I love to hesitate
Birds migrate on the horizon
Their songs fade away abruptly
If the garden sleeps lonely now
Who will make his day
Birds migrate on the horizon
They are already disappearing from view
As the last day draws to a close
All that remains for me is a wave

Many thanks for this poem, which is so appropriate for the season. One would like to follow
A song comes to mind:
Melancholy in September.
Always on the move, never completely still.
Noisy pictures, everyone can have as many as they want.
Disappear and start all over again.
If you can SEE the sky.
Thank you for this wonderful space of poetry.
Thank you so much for these wonderful lines...!!!....I had to make a note of them straight away (no printer)
This gives rise to longings....
It's nice that there are people like you, Mr. Langemann and Ms. Van der Maas
Wonderful lines.
Es gibt offenbar noch geistig beseelte Maas‘.
How beautiful and wistful! How quiet the garden becomes and who does not know the call of the cranes when they migrate south!
A very beautiful melancholy poem. Many feel this longing to travel and discover. Freedom and adventure. A great author.
