Lyrical contemplation XVII

Life is beautiful
Antje van der Maas

Life is beautiful

How could I have forgotten that

To see the sky, to stand by the water

Measuring the happiness and wealth of the world

The day was still young

And yet already so full of dawning life

Slowly gained momentum

And created a refreshing portrait of morals

The marketplace was colorful

The first coffee invigorated the senses

Eyes, nose and mouth

Confess ecstatically with a closed voice

The church was open

The air still thick with incense from the night before

Praying and hoping

The here and now extended by quiet moments

I hear the roar, and I feel it shake

And yet I will always long for what is noble

Life is beautiful

So I will keep it until the day I go

  1. The more we engage with time and hurry along with it,
the further it distances us from what is happening.

    Let's linger a little...

  2. May these lines always remind me that life is beautiful.
Thank you very much, Mrs. van der Maas

Welcome to this platform for the cultivated exchange of arguments.

We have forgotten how to endure contradiction. It is okay to disagree here. I would ask you to remain respectful and polite. Insults and hate comments will be removed in future, as will calls to vote for political parties. I reserve the right to delete insulting or derogatory comments. This public forum and its inherent opportunity to exchange arguments and opinions is an attempt to uphold freedom of expression - including freedom of dissent. I would like to see the old-fashioned virtue of respect cultivated here.

"Controversy is not an annoying evil, but a necessary prerequisite for the success of democracy." Federal President Dr. h.c. Joachim Gauck (ret.), only 5 years ago in his speech on the Day of the Basic Law.
