The American geostrategist and security expert George Friedman, classifies the Russian partial mobilization in his Daily Memo today. Perhaps this classification will give you some orientation.
"In a speech, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilization with immediate effect. The mobilization will involve only 300,000 reservists - veterans and those with special training - which apparently accounts for only 1 percent of Russian men with military experience. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said the reinforcements will be used to control the 1,000-kilometer line of contact as well as the occupied territories. Moscow is trying to consolidate its gains in Ukraine and is preparing referendums on joining Russia in the occupied parts of the Donbass and the south, but overall the latest move is not particularly escalatory."

"Russian dissent. After Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "partial mobilization" of the armed forces for Russia's war in Ukraine on Wednesday, protests against the war broke out in more than 30 cities across the country. According to the Russian human rights organization OVD-Info, half of the protesters - more than 1,400 people - were detained. Although the turnout was slightly lower than at other protests in recent years, there are signs that many Russians do not support the mobilization measure. For example, tickets for direct flights to countries where Russians have visa-free access, including Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan, are sold out."

Now we have the next stage of escalation with the attacks on the NS1 and MS2 pipelines.
For Western politicians and the MS media, Russia is the assassin; NATO and the EU are announcing in unison that this act will have consequences. With regard to the war in Ukraine, I believe this means that the Western partners want to intensify their campaign against Russia. Peace is further away than before.
To me, it looks like a thief shouting "stop the perpetrator" and looking innocently cheeky. Whoever the assassin was - the USA, which had previously issued corresponding threats of destruction, and Ukraine, which - together with Poland - described the prevention of NS2 as "existential" for their states, can be happy about the direct effect. The current recipients of Russian gas will have to plan for a future without it, and hopes of comparable economic relations with Russia after a peace agreement will have to be buried.
The long-term economic consequences for Germany and the other recipient countries (- a considerable proportion of the Russian gas was forwarded) are devastating.

I can only fully agree with your comments! Although there is more and more resistance against this irresponsible government, there are still too many citizens who do not (want to) wake up!
As a layman, I would like to interject that, if you look far back in history, none of the wars have really been won, that the parties have more or less lost (human) capital, territory and support. But it was the FinTechs (money lenders) who won back in the Middle Ages, who made many wars financially viable in the first place, later industrial conglomerates and now the intertwining of the two. For the first time, the world's resources are being divided up by a very few at the expense of all, "generalized" in a capitalist sense. The wars of the last 20 years show us that they are no longer waged to supposedly win, but to promote devastation through hunger, migration and scarcity.
With regard to Ukraine, Armenia, Yemen, etc., this makes me look to the bleak future with little confidence. I am grateful for your reference to Markus Lanz's show on which Ms. Wagenknecht was a guest. I actually appreciate Mr. Lanz as a clever, reflective and well-analyzing journalist. But the way he presented himself in this program actually made me doubt: how can ideology (and the associated view or rigorous attitude) be placed so much above the brutal reality of dying.
A very important narrative within the propaganda machinery became very clear in this program: "Yes, it is bad that we are suffering from the price shock and/or inflation; it is bad that the war is being prolonged and people are dying; etc. But it is ONLY the Ruse who started the war". But it is ONLY the fault of Ruse, who started the war in violation of international law".
However, the fact that our reaction to this and, above all, the many mistakes of German/European policy in the past have played a significant role in today's misery is often hidden behind Putin's guilt. And the vast majority "swallow" this.
Many economists, for example, have been announcing the current rise in inflation due to the unbridled increase in the money supply as inevitable for years. The financial crisis of 2008/2009 and corona have now fueled the "money printing" once again. And now we are paying the price. This is not (only) Putin's fault. But that's how it's being sold to us. Thank you for these thoughts on education. This idea is spreading more and more. The social credit conspiracy has an important, if not the most important base in the Federal Government in the Federal Ministry of Education, probably completely independent of who is currently filling the role of Federal Chancellor. Why an Israeli citizen, namely Selensky, sees people who see themselves in the tradition of Bandera as allies, I cannot say. As a young conscript, my uncle wrote home in 1942 or 1943 that Ukrainians had shot 15,000 Jews where he was deployed on the Eastern Front. To what extent these were specifically Bandera supporters is impossible to say today, but one thing is certain: something like this did happen. I find the previous questions rhetorical in the sense that there is propaganda in war? Can I expect truth from either side? Is there a moral justification for military force? We should each look within ourselves and search for an answer. That would be the first step, because we live in a democracy that can hardly function without responsible citizens.

It is clear that there are interest groups behind both politicians. Nevertheless, both are also players and actively play their respective roles. It is up to us to play this game or not.
This crisis should have been resolved through negotiation before it escalated to such an extent. Neutral Switzerland and its peaceful coexistence of several population groups could have been a role model for Ukraine. But the deployment of troops to the east was more important, even before the Russian war of aggression, as I saw with my own eyes. Now neither side wants to or can go back. The West dreams of military victory, which is more likely to cause nightmares in Russia. Military thinking and the corresponding propaganda thus determine events on both sides.
We Germans in particular should know what price the loser has to pay in the event of a military victory by the enemy. I only see "playing" in Selensky, who is an actor and showman. Putin seems more serious to me, also more concerned. If you are referring to the destruction of Germany: Compared to what Germany did in Russia, this destruction was almost restrained, at least in the parts taken by Russia. (Incidentally, the behavior of the UK and the USA was completely different: while the UK was "only" shot at and bombed from the air and the USA had no war damage at all in its own country, the military of these two countries actually raged here (firestorms, ...), as if the Germans had invaded them as murderously and devastatingly as they did Russia).
When I listen to the way people talk about the war and Russia in Germany today, I sometimes almost wish that Russia had paid "us" back even remotely adequately. That might have had a more lasting educational effect...

We have not made a good start to the new millennium. The good mood at the end of the 20th century and the confidence of global politics that people could enjoy a more peaceful future in relative prosperity have largely disappeared. It is pointless to ponder who is responsible for this. It is certainly not a single individual, even if some have excelled or are currently excelling. Rather, it is becoming apparent that there are plenty of crisis winners in every crisis. The Ukraine, coronavirus and climate crises are no different in this respect. What is striking about all the mega-crises of recent years is the crisis-intensifying effect of the press and media. Instead of exerting a moderating influence, discussing solutions and thus enabling a diverse discourse, they have turned up their amplifiers to the max in the direction of increasing fear and manipulation through one-sided reporting. It is not possible to find constructive solutions in this climate. As a result, we are hurtling towards a hard crash landing on the topics of Ukraine and the climate crisis. It would be desirable for the majority to realize, as has already happened with coronavirus, that they are being manipulated and influenced and that essential information is being withheld from them. The world is not black and white, even if the public broadcaster in particular increasingly wants to tell us that. So any splash of color is welcome to paint a more realistic picture of the colorful world. The problem seems to me to be that it is not too far from the presentation of the missing part of the truth to the accusation of one-sidedness and the defamation and slander that goes with it.

The international community would be well advised to put an immediate stop to both of them and negotiate a sustainable peace, which both are clearly neither able nor willing to do on their own. The two most recent speeches by Putin and Zelensky have shown this more than clearly, not to mention Putin's latest escalation. The price that we, and in particular the long-suffering people of Ukraine and Russia, are paying for this senseless fratricidal struggle is already too high, not to mention what we could all still face. Playing the military card alone could backfire badly.
On the subject of the climate crisis:
Here I can only advise everyone to end their speechlessness and lack of understanding and to address legitimate questions to politicians and scientists, for example:
o Why are scientists traveling to the Arctic to prove climate change caused by CO2? Is there much more to be found there than what everyone already knows: that ice and snow melt at temperatures above freezing? How can the cause of this undeniable effect of climate change be established beyond doubt?
o Are climate research simulations based on physical models of reality or do they - as is usual in meteorology - describe the effects on the basis of past observations and extrapolate these into the future with the help of correlation factors?
o Was the so-called radiative forcing of CO2 not determined by the latter method, negating other potential causes in the process of elimination?
o Have the climate researchers or the IPCC overlooked "global terrestrial stilling" or the associated decrease in evaporation as a potential cause of climate change, as an honest climate researcher from the house of the 2021 Nobel Prize winner in physics explicitly admitted in writing when asked back in 2019? Why was the extensive dialog that followed broken off unilaterally and with an open outcome? Is the "lack of time" argument really admissible in this important issue?
o How is climate protection through the use of wind energy supposed to work if it demonstrably impairs the functioning of the atmosphere and its exchange processes?
o Why is nobody researching the effects of turbulence in the lower atmospheric layers caused by wind turbines? Is it wrong what is formulated in meteorological textbooks as a basic prerequisite for so-called "high convection" and thus as conditions for the formation of precipitation, e.g: "A vertical density stratification, in the free atmosphere, which allows air parcels to rise to a sufficiently high altitude (lability)"? Don't wind turbines prevent this vertical density stratification similar to stirring in boiling water?
o Is the correlation between drought and the spread of wind turbines really a coincidence, despite the above-mentioned knowledge, as wind energy advocates would like people to believe?
o Is it a coincidence that, according to the DWD diagram, climate change in Germany/Europe broke away from the global trend precisely with the introduction of wind energy and has increased much more strongly since then?
o Why don't the scientists go to the Sahara, where a particularly large amount of solar energy during the day and extremely cold night temperatures would actually lead us to expect a particularly strong effect of the insulating effect (= greenhouse effect) of CO2?
o Do the researchers refrain from traveling to the Sahara because they would find evidence there that speaks against the CO2 hypothesis?
o What happens if the scientists are wrong and combating the causes of climate change is counterproductive? Can we as a society afford such a failure?
o Why are the numerous indications and clues that point precisely in this direction being ignored by large sections of the press and media, but also by politicians and scientists, or why are the verifiable arguments not being sufficiently acknowledged?
o Does this concealment have anything to do with the green journalism associations, in which journalists from practically all well-known press products and television stations are organized, and their voluntary agreement not to unsettle people with contradictory data and facts on climate change?
I'm sure everyone can think of even more questions and suggestions. Let us no longer be intimidated and start the urgently needed social discourse, even on taboo subjects. I recently put the attached questions to a member of the Bundestag responsible for our region as part of a comprehensive documentation. Let's look forward to the answers.

Thank you very much for your enlightening comment. I am completely with you on the comments about the climate. But not as far as the two gentlemen are concerned. I could share the macho posturing, although one comes from the circus and the other at least witnessed the withdrawal of the former Soviet armed forces from the occupation zone. The West, especially Germany, failed to grasp the outstretched hand of the Russians. This is something that has always had to be prevented. History repeats itself. I see the warmongers as being the US global strategists, NATO and now also the German government. A disgrace in my eyes! The pattern is similar in Chile, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon....The list could be extended. Even if this is the place of cultivated interaction, the word "shit" seems most appropriate to me. The shit that has been stirred up here in recent years stinks to high heaven in the truest sense of the word. Anyone who talks such a big game and is sure that Putin/Russia is the poor, pitiful victim should also have the courage to sign their opinion with their name. But you clearly have your reasons for wanting to remain anonymous. It is always difficult to discuss with a neutral.
